Textiles: Experimenting

Using my contextual research as inspiration i decided to create markings reminiscent of small explosions on my fabric using direct dyes, i used a large hard bristle brush to apply my inks and left it to dry before placing it under the heat press and applying random markings using disperse dyes. I created paper stencils in the shape of lightning bolts and placed them on top of my dyed fabric, i then applied a silk screen over the top before using lime green pigment dye to create another layer to my print. The results of my experiment are shown in the photograph below, i feel this sample would work well as part of my electric neon collection as the colours and also imagery seem to reflect the phrase very well.
