Ceramics: Contextual Research

Nuptus.
The images above are from Sylvio Giardina's SS12 collection titled Nuptus and is inspired by the notions of veils and clouds, which are both often the subject of a person’s imagination, i feel this collection connects really well with my own in depth research on clouds and there formations. Every designed piece within this collection has a sculptural form and aims to play on a person’s imagination. Some designs within the collection can be inflated as shown in the photograph above but they all stem from freely moving objects.
Sylvio Giardina SS12 collection is almost liquid-like and have all been created using fabrics such as polyethylene foam and jersey, pieces have Swarovski crystals randomly spread throughout there design to create a more dramatic effect. Although this line of clothing seems fluid and flowing there is a rigidity present as well that works to balance and ground the designs.
