Textiles: Contextual Research

Gucci Spring Collection 2012.

When looking at existing prints and collections for 2012 i came across Gucci's spring collection which is hugely inspired by buildings and architecture particularly those of New York sky scrapers, sharp rigid shapes and architecture really influenced a lot of my own previous ceramic and textile work and so i feel a strong connection to this collection.

When looking at my textiles Electric Neon mood board i noticed New York's Time Square was a part of my chosen imagery as i felt the flashing neon street signs really reflected my electric neon theme, i could incorporate New York buildings into my textiles prints and use direct dyes in a particular way to create neon flashing marks across buildings or a skyline.
