Ceramics: Waste Moulds

Once i had created the first half of my waste moulds i clayed up along the edge of each one, i then used soft soap on each mould brushing it on and off three times to make sure the second half of my moulds will not stick to the first half. I again mixed 1.5lbs of plaster and half a pint of water together in the figure of eight until it had the right consistency, i then poured my mixture over all my pieces before leaving them to set. When the second half of my waste moulds had set i separated them and used soft soap three times before placing them back together and creating clay walls around them to keep them in place, i again created a plaster mixture using the same measurements as before and poured it into the holes left in each mould.

Plaster filled waste moulds.

When pouring the plaster into all my moulds the plaster did not seem to be able to fill the spaces in between the moulds sufficiently enough and only half shapes where being produced, after trying more than three times to use this method and breaking my moulds in the process i decided i needed to change direction.
Waste Moulds.
